As many of you know, Nurses Week 2023 is Sat, May 6, 2023 – Fri, May 12, 2023. You can read my post detailing The Best Nurses Week Deals of 2023 if you’re looking to treat yourself, but what if you’re just searching for a gift for nurses week for someone else?
Read on for some ideas / some things us nurses love getting as gifts.
Things to Drink Out Of: Cups, Mugs, and Reusable Water Bottles
I have no idea why or how this came to be, but nurses LOVE their “drinking attire” (as I have so lovingly named it.) I can’t even express how much I love getting cups, mugs, and reusable water bottles as gifts. Check out some of my favorites below
- The one and only Stanley cup. I personally don’t take this to work, but do use it when I’m hanging out around the house.
- Another great alternative to the Stanley is the Yeti Rambler. I have been a Yeti fan for years, and have tons of their Vacuum Insulated Tumblers for busy mornings when I am chugging coffee on the go.
- Hydro Flask Water Bottles are my absolute go-tos.
- Mugs with funny, sassy sayings like this one that says “I can’t fix stupid but I can sedate it” and this unicorn mug are also always a crowd pleaser.
- I also LOVE a cute good tumbler / cup combo. Usually, the tumbler will say “before patients” and the cup (for your wine-loving friends) says “after patients”. Below are a few of my favorite designs
 Coffee. Because nursing.
Think gift cards to coffee shops, ground coffee, or something to drink coffee out of (*see above). I was recently gifted a Trade Coffee Subscription, which I thought was so cool because you get to try a variety of different coffees without having to pay for a whole bag (and risking not enjoying the taste.)
New Shoes
It’s no secret that nurses spend most of their days running around, so having good shoes is an absolute must. I’ve tried TONS of different shoes throughout my nursing career, so if the nurse you’re buying gifts for is someone you’re willing to spend a little (okay, a lot) of money on, Hokas are 1000% my recommendation.
Not looking to spend an arm and a leg on a gift for nurses week? Send over a gift card to a larger store like Road Runner Sports or Dicks Sporting Goods to pay for a portion of their shoe purchase!
Apparel
Nurses find so much joy in buying new, comfortable apparel for work. New scrubs, undershirts, jackets, and scrub caps can spark joy almost immediately.
I wear these undershirts every single day to help keep me sweat-free but still warm. Because I’m ALWAYS freezing, I also have a million jackets for work, and my favorites are always these full zips.
While many people swear by their FIGS (they are pretty comfortable), I have always worn Cherokee Scrubs and loved every pair I’ve had. As an athletic person, I have also always (always always) worn Fabletics leggings, and they just recently came out with a new Fabletics scrub line. Though I haven’t tried them yet, I’ve heard AMAZING things. If they’re anything like their leggings, I will be purchasing some ASAP.
Pens
This one sounds silly, but hear me out. All nurses get possessive over their pens, and this is a GREAT gift if you’re on a budget and just want a thoughtful, small gift. My absolute favorites are this 6 pack of ballpoint pens and these super basic 4-colored BIC pens. Pro tip: 1000+ bonus points if you get us a pen that that has the ability to change colors.
Alcohol
If you have a nurse in your life that drinks, a small bottle of their favorite alcohol can go a long way for that post-shift haze. This one can be a gift for nurses week or just a gift for any week really.
Badge Reels
The Etsy Badge Reels page is a great place for these, and with so many options you are bound to find something you’ll love
Personalized Gifts
Many of the companies I’ve listed above have the option to customize gifts (side note: a customized Yeti tumbler is one of my favorite gifts ever), and sites like Etsy are always great options for a more sentimental touch.
I hope this list of possible nurses week gifts serves as a great place to start. As always, please feel free to drop a comment if you have any more ideas to include on this list.
Happy shopping!
